Honeywell HCM-350 – Features
What is it that makes the Honeywell HCM-350 humidifier unique? Why is it one of the best-selling products on Amazon? We decided to look at its features to find an answer.

Every product has some key features which make it unique from the competition. And as the success of this humidifier showcases, it has plenty of those.
- Ultra-Quiet Operation
Starting with the best feature the Honeywell has to offer, and its ultra-quiet operation deserves a mention. At low and medium speed settings, it is next to silent; so much so that you can sleep with it running.
At high-speed setting, it resembles the sound of a bladeless fan running quietly. That is, even at its highest setting, the Honeywell HCM-350 produces a gentle noise which won’t wake you – or anyone else in your house – from sleep.
- Cold-Mist
There’s a reason why experts warn you off warm-mist humidifiers: they have the risk of burn injury. The risk turns into a hazard if you have children or pets in your home, as they aren’t careful while dealing with electric devices.
However, since the HCM-350 produces cold-mist, it poses no risk of burn injuries. It has no central heating element which allows its body to remain cold-to-touch. So, even if the humidifier is accidentally tipped over, there is no chance of scalding.
- Self-Regulating
One of the best thing about wick humidifiers is that they are self-regulating, which means they automatically regulate their moisture output without needing your intervention. And guess what, the Honeywell is no different.
It operates by putting vapors through wick whose rear end stays in the water. The wick functions such that it adjusts the output of the humidifier automatically. That is, if the temperature is cold in the surroundings of this humidifier, the wick would automatically lower its output then if it was warm.
Thus, without forcing you to pay extra for a humidistat – a gauge which lets you adjust humidity – the Honeywell HCM-350’s self-regulating feature would make sure that the humidity levels in your home stay at a comfortable level.
- Two-step cleaning mechanism
Unlike cheap humidifiers out there, the HCM-350 won’t pump out dirty moisture in your home. Instead, it has a two-step cleaning mechanism which makes sure your home only gets clean moisture.
The first step of this cleaning mechanism involves UV light which kills bacteria and viruses from the water inside the tank of this humidifier. Afterward, once the first step is over, the antimicrobial filter of the HCM-350 comes into play to prevent the growth of fungus and germs.
Therefore, regardless of the time the water stays stagnant inside the tank of this humidifier, it won’t become a hub of bacteria and germs.
Now that we have looked at the best features the Honeywell HCM-350 has to offer, let’s turn our attention to the also-rans. Though not as important as their abovementioned colleagues, these features also play an important role in the performance of the HCM-350.
- Three Speed Settings
Unless you aren’t going to use the humidifier in one room – or in one season – the three-speed settings will be a godsend.
For instance, if the weather has got too hot or you’re using the humidifier in a living room, you might need the high-speed setting to ensure the atmosphere remains comfortable. Conversely, if you’re using this humidifier in your bedroom – or in the nursery of your child – the low-speed setting will come to your help.
- 24-Hour Running Time (with one catch)
As veteran humidifier users might tell, the running time is a subjective term, and the HCM-350 is no different.
For, while its claim of a 24-hour running time is true, you’d only get it if you keep the speed at low setting. However, if you increase its speed, you might have to refill the humidifier in less than 24 hours.
- Dishwasher Safe and Break-resistant tank
In the bad old days, humidifiers were like costly items. Drop them once, and they are gone for good. Fortunately, the situation has now changed, and the HCM-350 serves as its living example.
For, not only is it dishwasher safe, but the water tank of this humidifier is also break-resistant. It means it would remain safe and in workable condition even if your child – or you – accidentally tip over this humidifier.
Now that we’ve looked at the user-impressing features of this humidifier, let’s turn our attention to the disappointing aspects of the HCM-350.
- No Humidistat
They say if you can’t see anything; it doesn’t exist. Some users think the same about the HCM-350. For, even though it has the self-regulating feature, they feel it should still have provided a humidistat.
Hence the reason why its users wanted the HCM-350 to have a humidistat. This feature allows you to adjust your humidifier’s output, which means you have maximum control over it.
- No Safety Shutoff
To be honest, the absence of a safety shutoff feature isn’t a huge problem for cold-mist humidifiers as they are cold-to-touch. Still, there are some users who are disappointed with the absence of this feature.
- No Timer
For those of you who don’t like continuously refilling their humidifier’s tank – which means everybody – the absence of timer is a glaring shortcoming in the HCM-350. It reduces the water consumption of the humidifier, hence increasing its running capacity on one refill, by allowing you to timer your humidifier’s operation.
